IFKT and IFWS at the Pitti Filati

From 24 to 26 June 2026, Pitti Immagine Filati opened its doors once again in Florence. As one of the world’s leading trade fairs for yarn manufacturers and distributors, it provides important inputs for the industry, particularly in the field of knitwear. Over the three days of the fair, exhibitors presented their yarn innovations and collections for the autumn/winter season 2027/28.

The Research Area offered a comprehensive overview of upcoming fashion trends, showcasing knitwear designs and material concepts for the coming season. The strong presence of Western and Wild West elements was particularly striking. Fringes, in particular, featured prominently in numerous designs, emphasising the trend towards dynamic surfaces and striking silhouettes.

Alongside the yarn manufacturers, knitting machine manufacturers Shima Seiki and Mandarin also showcased their latest technologies and solutions for industrial knitting production.

Another highlight of the trade fair was the “Feel the Yarn” competition, in which young designers and students presented their knitwear collections. Each was supported by a yarn manufacturer, which provided the yarns used, thereby enabling the designs to be brought to life.

From our member Universities, the participants were Kai Nöcker (Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, supported by Olimpias Group), Nina Becker (Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, Filati Naturali), Kerstin Greul (Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, Manifattura IGEA) and from the US Amanda Le (Kent State University, Emilcotoni). The award-winning collections, as well as all other entries, can be viewed on the Feel the Yarn website.
